Winter's Kiss
The tales of the mansion near Nika’s remote Russian village say that its lord drinks blood to live and that the guards are dead men walking, but that doesn’t stop Nika from falling for one of them—a man who seemingly hasn’t changed in twenty years, a man she wishes would be hers. One snowy spring night, her world and his collide when she is attacked by wolves and he rides in on a black horse to rescue her. But her knight in shining armour is far from saintly. He is a vampire, and she is becoming a werewolf, and love between such species is forbidden—the penalty death.
Winter is a commander of the Validus, the most powerful vampire bloodline in Europe. Faithful to his family and his lord since his turning one thousand years ago, he follows the law to the letter and places duty above all else, but his resolve is about to be tested in the most painful way and his world shaken beyond salvation. The girl he watched grow into a woman, a woman who has stolen his heart, is now a werewolf and his dream of making her his has been shattered. Only vengeance can be his now or the Law Keepers will hunt him down and kill both him and Nika.
But Winter’s plan to take Nika home to her family only leads to her witnessing the destruction of her village and the death of her father at the hands of the werewolf trying to claim her, and Winter finds that he can’t leave her. His heart demands that he protects Nika from the werewolf, Willem, by killing him and that he finds her a new home, somewhere she will be safe without him, for he must even protect her from himself. But Nika tempts him more than he can bear and it isn’t long before he finds himself treading the knife’s edge between upholding the law and succumbing to desire.
Nika does everything in her power to convince Winter to stay with her, to go against the laws and risk death, but in the end will she have done enough? When they reach the last bastion of the werewolves, will Winter leave her with her kin? Will the nights they spend together change his heart and his mind, or will she spend eternity dreaming of Winter’s kiss?
THE VAMPIRES REALM STORIES ALL STAND ALONE AND DO NOT NEED TO BE READ IN ORDER. THEY ARE LINKED ONLY BY THE WORLD IN WHICH THEY ARE SET. IF YOU ENJOY THIS STORY, BE SURE TO READ THE OTHERS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS DARK AND PASSIONATE WORLD.

Winter's Kiss
Last week, I finally finally finished the second draft of Winter's Kiss, the next Vampires Realm series novel. It's a paranormal romance novel about a vampire of the Validus bloodline and a young newly turned female werewolf, who happens to be a girl he wanted for himself. I had a bit of trouble with the hero and his jumbled motivations, but I think we're seeing things eye to eye now.
Winter, the hero, has his head on straight at last and it's all stations go. It wasn't as difficult as I thought it was going to be and I didn't actually have to change too much to get the story working how I wanted it. I had put off going through it for a few months because I thought it was going to be really difficult and painstaking, but in the end it was pretty painless!
Of course, it will need a good polish before it's ready for releasing into the wild. I'm planning on releasing it this autumn along with another novel of mine that has been sitting around waiting for my attention to finally fall on it.
back to work for me. It's never ending!

Seventh Circle by F E Heaton - vampire romance ebook - new release!
Out Now! New vampire romance ebook by F E Heaton...
Seventh Circle
Dark, sensual and fast-paced, Seventh Circle is a story of forbidden love so strong that it will save the world.
Born with strange powers similar to a vampire’s, Lilith has spent her life hunting demons for Section Seven. Now, on the very same night that she watches a vampire kill her best friend, she’s faced with her worse nightmare.
A client who is not only attractive, but a vampire.
Lincoln, a powerful pure blood vampire, has a problem. The prophecy he’s caught up in is coming to pass and his only chance of survival is relying on those he hates most—vampire hunters. It has been foretold that one will save him, a female hunter, and when he meets her, the attraction he feels is both instantaneous and forbidden.
Their mutual attraction becomes difficult to deny as they work to unravel the mystery of a contract between Lincoln’s lord and the Devil. The barriers around their hearts fall, but is there only pain ahead of them? With Lincoln’s life on the line, can Lilith find the strength to protect him and embrace a side of herself that she wished didn’t exist? Can Lincoln overcome his fear in order to save Lilith even if it means parting from her forever? What price will they pay to be together?

Winter's Kiss
I've been sick these past two weeks, an ear infection at first and now a cold has joined it. I'm refusing to let it slow me down though and last week I wrote like a demon (excuse the pun) and finally found my flow on Winter's Kiss. This is a story that I've wanted to write for quite a while now so it feels great to see it finally becoming a reality. I'll have to write a few non-Vampires Realm stories after this, but I'm gagging to write another story in the series and I have a few to choose from. Last week I wrote in every available minute, well, every minute when I wasn't at home. I even snagged 30 minutes each morning in starbucks and a little time after work on one day too. In the end I managed to hammer out 31000 words of Winter's Kiss, which leaves me around 20000 to write.
I'm excited about this story but it has been hard to write, probably because it's not a story where I get to throw characters together. There's the law placing a barrier between them and since Winter is a little like Valentine in his respect for the law and his duty, he's not caving! Well, he's kinda caving now. I can't wait to get writing this story again tomorrow.
Here's the new tally...

I'm also working hard on getting the content together for After Dark, my Vampires Realm newsletter, as this is being turned into a monthly affair for the next few months in the run up to the release of Seventh Circle and then Winter's Kiss.

Two new book covers and a writing update...
I have two new covers to show everyone. One is for the next Vampires Realm novel, Seventh Circle, and the other is for a short vampire romance story, A Promise of Passion, which I wrote for the new Nocturne Bites ebook line from Harlequin. They rejected it but that's not surprising considering that I don't really write Harly style. Lots of lovely readers have assured me that the story will be kick ass and it'll hit number 1 at Fictionwise regardless of what Harly thought of it. I love my readers. You guys rock!
New covers...

It's always exciting to have new artwork to show off and I love making covers for my stories.
I've been really busy recently with writing. I have a new series that I'm currently planning and that's taking up a lot of time. I'm also editing a number of short stories, but thankfully I've made good progress there and I'm almost done with them. I have started a new story, actually two new stories, one of which is definitely being written as it's the next Vampires Realm story after Seventh Circle. The other story is one which I'm toying with for a free serial read for you guys once Of Blood and Snow is complete. It's another demon/paranormal/vampire romance as epic as my current free serial.
Here's some tallys...

Blind publishers' marketing staff...
I'm constantly amused by the marketing staff of publishing companies. For some reason, they find my Vampires Realm series website (http://www.vampiresrealm.com) and send me emails asking me whether I'd like an ARC of some random vampire / vampire romance / paranormal romance novel to review on my website.
Honestly, do they not actually pay attention when they hit the site? The clue is in the page title where it says - Vampires Realm - Dark Urban Fantasy / Paranormal Romance Novels (Ebooks) by F E Heaton. If they miss that, the introductory paragraphs make it quite clear we're talking about specific books - my books.
Still, it's always fun to reply, point out their mistake and say if they were interested in my series (since it's self-published) then I'd be thrilled.
I swear, they find the site in google because it's well optimised, go there and just instantly grab my email address from the email me link!

Book of the Vampire / VR Novel
My sister's boyfriend works for a book printer and sometimes gets to bring home sample books. I've had a how to draw book from him and also a manga, but never anything as cool as this. Today he came around and dropped off "Book of the Vampire" by Nigel Suckling. It's probably out now or due out soon. Nigel is the UKs bigwig on vampires. The book is basically a look at the history of the vampire and the legends that it came from. It looks really interesting so far and I can't wait to get into it. It's bound to inspire me to write different types of vampires. I probably can't go any darker with them as I already write rather dark vampires as it is, but it will help me lend new twists to them.
I've edited 100 pages of VR Novel so far this week. It's really just a proof read now to pick up mistakes and fix some little things. I think that I'll have finished the proof read by this weekend and will be able to move onto writing the synopsis, which isn't going to be fun!

VR Novel - editing mode
Well, I'm in editing mode at the moment so that's why you haven't heard from me for a while. I'm currently in the second edit of VR Novel and it's going well. I'm pleased, nay thrilled, with the story. I've got to write a pesky synopsis for it and I'm finding it difficult since everywhere I look, people have a different opinion on how to write a synopsis and what its length should be!
I'm going to continue researching it until I get a rough formula in my head for length and style etc. If anyone has any thoughts, I'd appreciate them.
I'm writing some short science fiction romances right now. It's a mini-series that I'm writing under my other persona.
Oh, I've also written a short paranormal romance that I submitted to Harlequin. Now I have a nervous wait to see if they like it or not. It's for their new Nocturne Bites ebook line. I have another couple of ideas that I'll also be writing for that line. It's my first jump into submitting to the big publishers, so it will be interesting to see their reaction, although they're apparently only dishing out standard rejection letters.
